Sara Angelia Holtrop, 18, of Hamilton, GA died Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Piedmont Regional Hospital due to a gunshot. She is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
A private memorial service by invitation only will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Solid Rock Assembly of God Church with Pastor Bronwyn Carty officiating. McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 will be serving the family at the church. Those without an invitation to the service may view the service LIVE beginning at 3:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home website. Sara was born September 8, 2002 in Guatemala and later adopted by David Paul Holtrop and Michelle Bylenga Holtrop. She was a Senior at Harris County High School, where all of her teachers loved her. She worked as a hostess and curbside waitress at B. Merrell’s, and as also worked at Callaway Gardens in past summers. She was a member of Solid Rock Assembly of God and Mountain Shadows Church in Pine Mountain, GA. Sara was a kind, compassionate, loving and caring spirit. She would always help those in need, especially those who were poor and needed food. She loved animals and wanted to be a Veterinarian. She was investigating a career in the Air Force. She loved spending time with her friends, having fun being silly, and having good times “hanging out”. She wants all her friends and family to know she LOVES them very much and can’t wait to see them in HEAVEN. John 3:16 “For God so Loved the World that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but " have Eternal Life ”. This is her favorite verse in the bible.
Sara is preceded in death by her father, David Paul Holtrop and her brother, Maxwell David Holtrop.
She is survived by her mother, Michelle Holtrop and fiancé James Simpson of Hamilton, GA, sister, Sharaya Holtrop of Nolensville, TN, brother, Walter Holtrop of Sheboygan, WI, paternal grandmother, Doris Slot of Grand Rapids, MI, Aunt, Pamela Meyer of Wyoming, MINephew, Joshua Meyer (Jasmine) of Zeeland, MI, Niece, Raychel Meyer of Hudsonville, MI, Aunt, Karin Holtrop of Hudsonville, MI, Aunt, Kathleen Holtrop of Lexington, KY, Uncle, John Holtrop (Darlene), Tucson, AZ, numerous other family members and close friends.
