Rosemary S. Franklin, of Columbus, died Saturday at 1am at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta GA. with complications from respiratory failure at the age of 89. She is survived by her son David W. Franklin, his wife Jamie and granddaughters, Sara and Danielle, of Kennesaw GA. She was born in Marlow Oklahoma as Rosemary Shaw having one brother, Jack and two sisters, Bonnie and Margie.

Rosemary married Clarence F. Franklin in 1948 in Lawton Oklahoma. As a dedicated military wife she lived in Ft. Still Oklahoma, Ft. Riley Kansas, Berlin Germany and Ft. Benning. She became an active member of Gold Star Wives after the passing of her husband Command Sargent Major Clarence F. Franklin, who was buried at Ft. Benning in 1969. She lived in Columbus from 1969 until 2014. Rosemary worked at Ft. Benning with NAF Finance office from 1969 until her retirement in 1993.

She enjoyed being with family and being a loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader of many books and known for her sense of humor and one liners. She will be greatly missed by many.
Rosemary will be buried with her husband.

Services will be held on Wednesday Jan. 31, at 2:00 pm at the Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery with Pastor Buddy Bridges of Clinton, SC officiating. Family and friends attending the services should gather at McMullen funeral between 12:30- 1:00pm. Funeral procession will depart at 1:15.
