Ret. Sfc Tommy Dean Howard, Sr.

Ret. SFC Tommy Dean Howard Sr., 54, of Fortson, GA, died peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, April 10, 2022 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Rollins officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA, 31907. A private interment will be held at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery.

SFC Howard was born in Jacksonville, NC on August 24, 1967. He faithfully served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years, retiring in 2007 as a Sergeant First Class with the US Army Infantry. He was a Veteran of numerous deployments, including Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Marion, son Steven T. Torres, brother Ray Howard and mother Judith Ann Henderson, as well as the loving grandparents who were instrumental to his upbringing, Raymond and Adelle Henderson.

Survived by his children, Andre (Brittany) Torres of Louisville, KY, Tommy (Emily) Howard Jr. of Washington, D.C., Vanessa (Brittney) Robinette of Headland, AL, and Abigail Howard of Fortson, GA. Loving Opa to Briggs, Julian, and Brayden, and brother to Shawn (Lisa) George.
