Chuck was born June 16, 1964 to the late Gerald Harvey Griffith and survived by Wilma Wise-Griffith in Columbus, GA. Chuck is also survived by his wife of 36 years, Sherry Killingsworth-Griffith, daughters Maci Wright and Cami Griffith, son-in-law Matthew Wright and grandchildren, Charleigh Mae Wright and Tucker Griffith Wright. Chuck’s siblings are Andy Harvey, Eugene Harvey and spouse Jackie, Lee Ann Hall and spouse Tommy, and deceased siblings, Robert Harvey and Tommy Harvey.

Chuck was a graduate of Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL and The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, MO. He has served in churches in Rock Falls, IL, Kokomo, IN, Fayetteville, GA and Columbus, GA. He served as Lead Pastor at Trinity Assembly of God in Columbus for the last 8 years. Chuck was ordained with the General Council of the Assemblies of God in 1989. He has served as Presbyter in the South Atlanta Section and most recently as a Georgia Regional Presbyter. Having planted a church in Fayetteville, GA and lead multiple mission trips stateside and abroad, his heart has always been to share the Gospel both locally and globally.

Though his heart was for ministry, his greatest reward in life was his family. Wholly devoted to his wife of 36 years, Sherry, adoring father to daughters, Maci and Cami, and doting “Papa” to his Charleigh Mae Wright, and Tucker Griffith Wright. His favorite phrase to each of them was, “you are my heart!” Even during his busiest seasons, Chuck always made time to visit his mother, Ruth, whom he often said was “the strongest woman he ever knew.” He was extremely proud of his late father, Gerald Harvey Griffith, who was a WWII veteran—this is what lead to his great interest in WWII history.

Everywhere Chuck went, he took time to make people feel valued, seen, and loved. Strangers quickly became his friend because people were naturally drawn to the joy and light of Christ that he radiated. The only thing he loved more than immersing himself in the Word of God was sharing it with other people.

Chuck had many personal, meaningful quotes, but one that he quoted most often were lyrics to the old hymn The Love of God Is Greater Far, written by Frederick M. Lehman in 1917:

“Could we with ink the ocean fill, and were the skies of parchment made; were every stalk on earth a quill, and everyone a scribe by trade; to write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry; nor could the scroll contain the whole, though stretched from sky to sky.”

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Pastor Chuck to Trinity Assembly of God Church 101 Bascom Court Columbus, Georgia 31909.
