Mildred McClung, 94, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Columbus Hospice at Midtown West.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Vernon Prather officiating. There will be a private interment in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. McClung was born July 12, 1920 in Thomaston, GA daughter of the late Clifford Palmer and Margaret Barrett Palmer. She retired from Tom's Foods. She was a member of Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church, the WMU, Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and was the Hospitality Chairman.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. McClung; son, Elmer McClung; sister, Edna Gibson; brothers, Norris Palmer, Benny Ray Palmer and Cleveland Palmer; and granddaughter, Patty McClung LaPlace.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Brown of Alabaster, AL; sons, Billy McClung of Cataula, GA, Wayne McClung (Elaine) of Salem, AL and Gerald McClung (Ann) of Columbus, GA; sisters, Rosie Mae Phillips and Melba Elliott both of Columbus, GA; brothers, C. J. Palmer of Columbus, GA, James Palmer of England, and Harold Palmer of Talbotton, GA ; ten grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
