Mr. Jones was born September 15, 1945 in Columbus, GA to the late Malvyn G. Jones Sr. and Mildred Slaughter Jones. He served in the U.S. Air force and Navy. He was an Insurance Broker, serving the Columbus area for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Reynolds (Matthew), and son Chad Jones all, of Columbus, GA.
Ken was a man of honor and integrity, a man of strong moral conviction, and a man of deep faith. He accepted The Lord into his heart as a little boy in his 3rd grade Sunday School Class at Westside Baptist Church, (Now Lakewood Baptist) in Phenix City, AL, led in that prayer by his Uncle Lavert Grimes. He was a fan of history and genealogy, and spent many hours sharing family history and stories with his children, and doing family historical research with his daughter. On the other hand, he was NOT a fan of modern technology, especially anything having to do with computers, and still wrote any correspondence on his much loved, well used, 50 plus year old typewriter. He loved wearing dress hats, smoking his pipe, and eating good home cooking, especially homemade desserts. He was a wise man with a true gift of discernment, an avid supporter of Thru The Bible Radio Ministries, Jews For Jesus Ministries, and The Ukraine Orphans Mission Ministry of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Ken was a loyal friend to many and a dedicated and devoted father, who also filled the role of "mother" as well, having raised his two children as a single parent. He was a doting and wonderful Dad who could be found every Friday for the last 32 years on a weekly lunch date and afternoon outing with his "darling daughter. "
He was unendingly proud of his son, Chad, and his daughter Tammy, and son in law and Matthew for their successes in life but, more than anything, he was proud that his children had accepted Christ Jesus into their hearts as their personal savior.
Ken was predeceased by his father, Malvyn G. Jones, Sr., his mother, Mildred Slaughter Jones, and brother, Malvyn G. Jones, Jr.. Along with his children, he is survived by a sister in law, Lucy P. Jones of Phenix City, AL, and many, many beloved cousins whom he referred to as his "Benton Cousins," "His Slaughter Cousins," and his "Jones Cousins." Ken is also survived by dear friends Mike Portwood, Dickey Sheehan, John Homer and close childhood friend Rodney Culpepper, all of whom he loved like family. No finer man nor more wonderful Dad could there have ever been . . . He will be missed by all who knew him, and especially by those who loved him.
