Kenneth Espy Vann 82, of Smiths Station, Alabama died Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the Legacy Reserve at Old Town.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Lucas Tribble officiating. A private interment will be held in Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, Al. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kenneth was born February 03, 1939 in Columbus, Georgia son of the late Durwood Paul Vann and Pauline Ariail Franke. Kenneth was a 1958 graduate of Jordan Vocational High School, a 1963 graduate of the University of Georgia where he was a member of Sigma Nu and a 3 year football letterman. Kenneth was also a member of the 1959 SEC Championship football team and was inducted into the Jordan Vocational High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012.  After leaving Georgia, Kenneth became a successful contractor owning Vann Construction for over 35 years in Columbus and the Smiths Station area. He also owned The Countryside Hardware in Smiths Station and taught shop, coached wrestling and football for Jordan Vocational High School.

Kenneth was active member of the Smiths Station Ruritan Club where he served as President, former Chairman of the Smiths Water and Sewer Authority, member of the Smiths Station Fire and Rescue Board, member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, member of the UGA Wally’s Boys Club and was active in helping the community of Smiths Station become incorporated.

Other than his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Vann Remick.

Survivors include his wife Sally Buchanan Vann of Smiths Station, AL; son, Kenneth Scott Vann Easton of Cumming, GA; daughters, Leslie Vann Lazrovitch and her husband Phil of Louisville, KY; Mary Catherine Bradford and her husband Danny of Simpsonville, S.C; sisters, Elaine “Nicki” Gilbert of Dothan, AL; Susan Crenshaw and her husband Lonnie of Fortson, GA; 9 grandchildren, Sam Easton, Kenneth Mott, Kayla Remick, John-Michael Remick, Ariail Lazrovitch, Morgann Lazrovitch, Stephen Bradford (Kayla), Sarah Beth Tribble (Lucas) and Will Bradford and one great-grandchild Baker Bradford. Kenneth is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
