Jacqueline (Jackie) Louise Keller, 91, of Columbus, GA died Monday, January 11, 2021 at Rivertowne Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Columbus, GA at a later date.
Jacqueline was born January 1, 1930 in Tuscaloosa, AL to the late George G. Lawrence and Mildred Pearson Lawrence. Jacqueline was an executive secretary to a general at the Pentagon in Washington, DC while her husband of 69 years was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA. They moved back to Tuscaloosa when her first child was born. They moved to Columbus when her husband took a job transfer with Sears Roebuck & Co. Jackie went to work for both First Baptist Church and in the transportation department at Ft. Benning, GA. Jackie was very involved in the church serving on many committees, including the pastor search committee that brought Dr. Jimmie Elder to FBC. She retired in the early nineties to focus on her family.
Jackie’s main passion was writing poetry. She was a member of the American Poetry Society and the American Writer’s Guild. She was also published in a table book of poetry. Another passion was the Daughter’s of the American Revolution (DAR) where she served many roles including State Regent representing the George Walton Chapter. Jackie was also the Web mistress for the chapter’s Web site. She was a voracious reader, and she was a wonderful wife and mother. She had a unique skill for balancing her daily work load, including her kid’s sports, music lessons and school work. She maintained a very loving family.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband William A. (Buddy) Keller and her two daughters Patti K. Taylor and Rebecca (Becky) K. Tipton.
Jackie is survived by her son, William Craig Keller Sr. of Columbus, GA, grandson William C. Keller, Jr. of Tuscaloosa, AL. and granddaughter Caroline G. Keller her fiancé Alan Jenkins and son Kingston D. Jenkins all of Columbus, GA., grandchildren Christopher S. Taylor of Columbus, GA, Jonathan Tipton of Tampa, FL, Andrew Tipton, wife Carol Tipton and their daughters Gracie and Aurelia all of Savannah, GA and numerous relatives in Alabama, Florida and Maryland.
