Gail McCarty Pitts, 80, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Midtown Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM EST Monday, June 22, 2015 at Pittsview Cemetery in Pittsview, AL with Reverend Blythe Ethridge officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Pitts was born March 4, 1935 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Fern Almond McCarty and Nellie Wilson McCarty. She was a lifetime member of Pittsview United Methodist Church, and was an avid gardener. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Andrew Pitts of Columbus, GA, sons, Jeff Pitts (Cher) of Pittsview, AL, Greg Pitts of Birmingham, AL and Andrew Pitts, III (Alene) of Columbus, GA, daughter, Fern Griffin (Wes) of Pine Mountain, GA, brothers, Gene McCarty (Rosa), David McCarty all of Columbus, GA and Gibson McCarty of Maui, HI, grandchildren, Isabella Pitts, Abigail Pitts, Lewis Pitts, Andrew Pitts IV, Rossi Puzey, Railyn Beauchamp and Missy Piper, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted, but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the Pittsview Cemetery Fund P.O. Box 127 Pittsview, AL 36871.
