Eura Lee "GG" Newman 83, of Columbus, GA. died Saturday, April 18, 2015 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Shirley M. Redmond officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Mrs. Newman was born September 20, 1931 in Andalusia, AL. daughter of the late Benjamin and Annie Lou Davis Barron. Mrs. Newman worked at the Bibb Mill for 25 years, worked for the Columbus Police Department as a School Crossing Guard for 35 years and later worked at St. Francis Hospital as a Nurse Tech. She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and loved flowers and work in her yard with her daughter Connie.
Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her son Donnie Herring.
Survivors include two daughters; Rebecca "Becky" Efurd (Brady), Connie Newman and friend Jimmy Touhy, one son; Dalton "Buster" Newman (Shirley), two grandchildren; Mendy Williams (Chris), Mark Efurd (Kerry), three great grandchildren; Zachary Williams, Payton Rebecca Williams and Avery Leigh Efurd, a special friend Theresa Slattery and her loving dog Roodie.
