Columbus Police Command Sergeant Richard Arnold McMahan 59, of Columbus, Georgia died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Piedmont Columbus Regional North.
A Celebration of Life with Columbus Police Honors will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Cascade Hills Church 727 54th Street Columbus, Georgia 31904. The family will receive friends following the services at the church.
Richard was born January 21, 1962 in Bamberg Germany son of Josphine McMahan and the late Arnold Edward McMahan. He was a 1980 graduate of Baker High School and was currently a Command Sergeant with the Columbus Police Department where he has been serving the citizens of Columbus for the past 40 years.
Survivors include his wife Patricia McMahan, his children, Lashawna Macon (Daniel), Chris McMahan (Hannah), his siblings, Fredy Hofmann (Christa), Harold McMahan, Michael McMahan, Gary McMahan (Twila), Sandy Herman (Roger), Johnny McMahan and Dana Elmore. Richard is also survived by his grandchildren, Whitney Lang, Tristen Macon, Kierra Macon and Elliott McMahan and several nieces and nephews.
