Zona Coffey Walker

Zona Coffey Walker, 88, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Orchard View. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Friday, April 28, 2023 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery following the service.

Zona was born June 7, 1934 in Knoxville, TN daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Coffey and Katherine “Kate” Wright Coffey. She grew up in Knoxville where she lived until 1975, when she moved to Columbus, GA. In Columbus, she worked as a nursing technician at Doctor’s Hospital (now, Piedmont Hospital) until 1985, after which she opened a day care in the home. Her love was in serving people, both her patients at the hospital and the children she cared for. Her “kids” meant everything to her.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Walker, son, David Stephen Tallent, and siblings, James Coffey, Daniel Coffey, and  Samuel Coffey.

Survivors include her children, Sharon Fuller (Wayne) of Columbus, GA, Wayne Tallent (Judy) of Cherokee, AL, Katy Walker (Taylor) of Norcross, GA; grandchildren, Billy Tallent, Eric Tallent, Cody Tallent, Crystal Graham, Rhonda Jenkins; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
