Zachary Frank Woodcock, known affectionately as Zach and Uncle Zach to his friends and family, passed away at his residence on December 29, 2024, at the age of 70.
Celebration of life will be held on April 17th, 2025. Time and Location TBD. Contact Wanda Johnston at johnstonwanda@yahoo.com.
Born on April 9, 1954, in Columbus, Georgia, Zach lived a life marked by adventure, laughter, and a deep commitment to aggravating the closest people to him. He was late for dinner and the last to leave, but this time he left way too early.
He was a unique man who sought out what life had to offer. His adventurous spirit led him to bicycle across the south of France, run with the bulls in Pamplona, and ski the slopes of Europe. Early in life he was an amateur pilot and bar owner in Oklahoma. Later he would take construction jobs across the country just to travel to a state he had never seen. Zach was a multi-talented businessman, who mentored younger entrepreneurs, and took pride in the personal special touches he added to his building projects. He was an avid sports fan who wholeheartedly supported the Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and Oklahoma State, and to his families' chagrin the Alabama Crimson Tide. He especially enjoyed attending Super Bowl LIII.
Zach was a unique soul who left an indelible mark on the world. Funny, adventurous, thoughtful, and a proud cancer survivor, he lived a life that was unconventional, but vibrant. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will continue to live on through the countless stories and memories he leaves behind. Zach will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a man who truly embraced all that life had to offer.
Survivors include his sisters, Carol Gordon of Valley, AL, Wanda Johnston of Smiths Station, AL, Lisa Neal of Fortson, GA; nieces and nephew, Kimberly Pickering of Atlanta, GA, Caron Harrison and her husband, Joe of Arlington, VA, Charles L.
