Woodson Wesley Chesser, Sr., 95, of Columbus, Georgia died July 16, 2022 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. A private interment will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. A Visitation will be held 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday July 19, 2022 at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Chesser was born June 22, 1927 son of the late Wesley L. Chesser and Necel Mae Rachels Chesser. He as a supervisor for Gulf Life Insurance Company and was a barber. He was a US Navy veteran serving in World War II and Korea Conflict. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Lee Chesser, daughter, Valerie Chesser Stracke and brother, Bobby Chesser.
Survivors include his daughter Beverly “Jan” Horne (John) of Columbus, GA, sons, Woodson Wesley Chesser, Jr of Phenix City, AL, Anthony Dennis Chesser (Svetlana) of Prattville AL, sister, Betty Joyce Waldrop of Salem AL, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
