Wilson Bradley Whitaker, Jr., 87, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Opelika City Cemetery in Opelika, AL. A Visitation for friends will begin at 10:00 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Whitaker was born May 23, 1929 in Opelika, AL, son of the late beloved Wilson Bradley Whitaker, Sr. and Inez Bankston Whitaker. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Auburn University, his Master's in Business Administration Degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Business, and a specialist Degree in Business Management and Sales from Stanford University Graduate School of Business Executive Education. Mr. Whitaker was a U.S. Veteran having served in the Korean War as 1st Lieutenant in the Army of the United States. His career spanned nearly 35 years with Kraft Foods, Inc., rising through the ranks, moving around the country, traveling the world and culminating as the President of Retail Sales and Sales Operations. He was a Free Mason, a Kentucky Colonel, a former Dale Carnegie Trainer, a member of the Mercedes Car Club, a member of the River Cities Model A Club, and an avid Auburn football fan. His service to his community, his faith, his friends and his family will be cherished always.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joy Furcron Whitaker of Columbus, GA, son, Wilson B. Whitaker, III (Toika) of Phenix City, AL, daughter, Carol Molski (Doug) of Frankfort, IL, grandchildren, Lyndsay Mobley (Judd) of Conyers, GA, and Brandon Kullmann of Phenix City, AL, sister, Martha Ann Elizondo (and her late husband Meme) of Columbus, GA, nephew, Michael Elizondo (Margaret) of Westwood, MA and their children, Max, Mason, and Eve, and his loving and devoted Chihuahua, Chico.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association 5156 River Road, Suite M, Columbus, GA 31904 or to Kraft Foods Group Foundation/Feeding America 35 East Wacker Drive, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60601.
