William Anthony Baker, affectionately known as Billy to his friends and family, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, at the age of 60.

Billy was born June 16, 1964, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to the late Theodore Portter Baker, and Barbara Galster.  He was a lifelong resident of the state, taking his final breaths in Columbus, GA, surrounded by the warmth of his home and the love of his family. He departed this world due to natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and treasured memories.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907

Billy was a man of great character, defined by his loving nature, kindness, and handy skills. His early years were spent in the halls of Baker High School, where he not only received his education but also formed the foundation of his work ethic and values. Upon graduation, Billy entered the workforce, embarking on a long and successful career in construction. He was well-respected in his profession, known for his reliability as a roofer and his commitment to any task he undertook.

Throughout his life, Billy was a devoted outdoorsman with a passion for the beauty of nature. He found solace and joy in camping and fishing, often escaping to the tranquility of the wilderness to recharge. His love for the outdoors was only matched by his love for music, especially the tunes of the country music group Alabama. Many will remember how he lovingly dedicated Alabama songs on the radio to his wife, Nancy, a testament to their enduring romance and Billy's thoughtful heart.

Nancy Baker, Billy's loving wife, was his partner in every sense of the word, sharing in his adventures, dreams, and daily life. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and music. Their bond was an inspiration to those who knew them, illustrating a commitment that was as unshakeable as it was tender.

Billy's role as a family man was paramount, and it was in this role that he truly shone. He cherished every moment spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. The memories created during family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and quiet afternoons will be held dear by those who loved him.

In addition to his Parents, Billy was proceeded in death by his son, William Baker Jr.

Billy is survived by his loving Wife of over 40 years Nancy Baker; son, James Theadore Baker; Daughter, Cassandra Jo Baker (Jeff); daughter, Tara Frankford (Will); sister, Amiee Arredondo (Chris); numerous grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.
