William Edgar Powers, Jr (Bill) of Phenix City, Alabama died Sunday, September 29, 2024, at his residence.

A private memorial service for the family will be held at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. David Mills officiating.

Bill Powers was born November 30,1939 in Columbus, GA son of the late William Edgar Powers and Louise Quick Powers. Other than his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Booth Powers. Bill and Barbara were married for 57 years.

Bill graduated from Union University in 1964 and was awarded his Masters Degree from Southern Baptist Seminary in 1970. He served as the Minister of Music and Director of Music for many years in various churches.

He was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Lakewood Baptist Church Amen Choir. Bill loved the Atlanta Braves, composing music and staying involved in his church.

Survivors include his children, Andrea Shirley (Kevin) of Columbus, GA, Scott Powers (Allison) of Alpharetta, GA, Chad Powers (Sharon) of Phenix City, AL, Chip Powers of Steamboat Springs, CO; grandchildren, Ashton Powers, Katie Jacobson (Sam), Clayton Shirley (Sarah), Railey Schramm (Bo), and Adalyn Powers; great grandchild, Iris Shirley; one great grandson on the way, James Schramm; siblings, Joy Boan of Rockledge, FL; brother, David Powers of Richmond, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.
