William "Bill" Carlton Blizard

William “Bill” Carlton Blizard 80, of Columbus, Georgia died Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Campus after a 3 week battle with COVID-19.

Graveside services with Navy Honors will be held 11:00 AM EST Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery 553 Hwy. 165 Ft. Mitchell Alabama 36856 with Rev. Charles “Chuck” Hasty, Jr., Rev. John Bumgardner and Rev. Tom Tippett officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we encourage everyone to make the best decisions to remain safe. If anyone wishes to attend the graveside service, please remember to remain 6 feet apart from those not in your household and wear personal protective equipment.

Bill was born June 18, 1941 in Pitts, Georgia son of the late Willie Marion Blizard and Kennon Joyce Blackstock (C.O. Blackstock step-father). He worked for TSYS, Columbus, Georgia as a Senior Vice President. Bill’s passion was serving his Lord and Savior at Grace Presbyterian Church.

Other than his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Charles Marion Blizard of Dothan, Alabama.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Barfield Blizard, his two children Robin Blizard Hodge (Rett), Thomas Ashley Blizard, granddaughter, Kathryn Ann Barber; sister, Sandy Blackstock Hess (Lee) of Carrollton, Va., as well numerous cousins, nieces, nephews of the Dorsey clan.
