William Jerry Tomblin, Sr. 76 of Salem, AL died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital.


Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 11:00 A.M., EST Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Jim Grantham officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. EST at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th Street, Phenix City, AL.


Mr. Tomblin was born August 13, 1935 in Alexander City, AL son of the late John William and Mollie Mae Hendrix Tomblin. He retired after 34 years with Bibb Mills and was working at Lee County Environmental Services. He was a U. S. Army and U. S. Navy CB Veteran. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved to work in his garden and go fishing. It was all about family to him.


Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph L. Tomblin and Leroy Tomblin.


Survivors include his wife of 54 years Margie A. Tomblin of Salem, AL; sons, William J. Tomblin, Jr. (Cathy) of Phenix City, AL and Bobby Glenn Tomblin (Jennifer) of Smiths Station, AL; daughters, Janice Marie Bland (Gomer) of Jackson Gap, AL and Diana Wade of Phenix City, AL; brothers, Jimmy Tomblin, Kenneth Tomblin (Socorra), Bruce Tomblin and John Tomblin (Nell); sisters, Barbara Aurianne, Shirley Cole and Glenda Mainor (Wayne); ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren; god daughter, Chantel Stringer and several nieces and nephews.
