William B. Stockton, 86, of Columbus, GA, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Midtown Medical Center.
Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Riverdale Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Prather officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Stockton was born October 30, 1928 in Phenix City, AL, son of the late William M. Stockton and Floy Waddell Stockton. For 37 years, he was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service and worked as a volunteer officer in the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a Baptist by faith. He was a member in good standing of the Colombian Lodge of Columbus.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Ann Stockton and daughter, Elizabeth Helms.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra Stockton of Marietta, GA; his son-in-law David Helms, and three grandchildren: Chris Helms and Nick Helms of Smiths Station, AL and Ben Hilley of Nashville, TN. A brother, Karcher Eugene Stockton resides in Covington, TN.
