William Henry Sebastian

William Henry Sebastian, 89, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Columbus Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, June 18, 2021 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 PM before the service at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

William was born June 4, 1932 in Port Townsend, WA to the late Harley Raymond Willis and Geraldine Blanche Wannamaker Willis. Bill was raised by Geraldine and his step-father Lt. Colonel Harry “Skip” Sebastian. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and met the love of his life, Charlotte Fortson of Elberton, GA. After he was honorably discharged they moved to Atlanta, GA, to be closer to her family. While there, Bill attended Georgia State University at night, worked full time and was a wonderful Dad to 4 children. After graduation and starting a career in sales, they eventually settled in Columbus, GA. He was a former member of Britt Davis Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Director and a choir member. William was an avid runner, founding member of Columbus Track Club and competed in the Peachtree Road Race for 40 consecutive years. He was active in North Columbus Babe Ruth, and attended over 7500 of his family’s sporting events and activities. He was a family man, supporting his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a person that could always be counted on.  Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Sebastian, son, Martin Sebastian and sister, Geraldine (Tootsie) Johnson.

He is survived by his children, William Ralph Sebastian (Carol) of Columbus, GA, Michael Harley Sebastian (Patricia) of Atlanta, GA, John Emerson Sebastian (Amaree) of Columbus, GA and Eva Marie Sebastian Steele (Robert) of Roswell, GA, grandchildren, Jason Sebastian, Drew Godwin (Liz), Kevin Sebastian (Jamie), Amanda Kate Godwin Bard (Ben), Iain Sebastian, Rachel Sebastian, Parker Sebastian, Grant Sebastian and Harley Sebastian, and several great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Britt David Baptist Church at 2801 W Britt David Rd, Columbus, GA 31909.
