William Hugh Royer, Jr., 78, of
Columbus, GA died Friday,
September 12, 2014 at
Columbus Hospice House.
Memorial services will
be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday,
September 16, 2014 at
St. Paul United Methodist
Church with Reverend Dr.
P. Shane Green officiating.
The family will receive
friends following the service,
according to McMullen
Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian
Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. Royer was born
August 19, 1936 in
Eastman, GA, son of the
late William Hugh Royer,
Sr. and Frances Edwards
Royer. He graduated from
Columbus High School
and from the University of
Georgia in 1959. He served
in the U. S. Army. He was
a professional golfer on the
PGA Tour for 14 years and in
1972 became the head pro
at Bull Creek Golf Course
in Columbus, GA. He was a
member of Wynnton United
Methodist Church.
Other than his parents, he
was preceded in death by
his wife, Carol Royer.
Survivors include his
son, William Hugh Royer, III
(Heather Royer) of Myrtle
Beach, SC; daughter, Lou
Cook (Thomas Tice) of
Pascagoula, MS; sister,
Anna Dykes (Sid Dykes)
of Columbus, GA; brother,
Clark Royer (Frankie Royer)
of Waycross, GA; and
grandchildren, Sydney Royer,
Brai Royer, Abbey Royer,
Leighanne Martin, Alex Cook
and Meagan Cook.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests that
memorial donations be
