William Edward "Bill" Morris, 76, of Ellerslie, GA died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at his farm.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Eastern Heights Baptist Church with Dr. LeBron Matthews and Rev. Jason Cardwell officiating. Interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Morris was born April 14, 1938 in Morristown, TN, son of the late George O. and Mary Henderson Morris. He was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church since 1968 having served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and several other church committees. He was a 1955 graduate of Morristown High School and a 1959 graduate of Auburn University School of Pharmacy. While attending Auburn, Mr. Morris was a member of SAE Fraternity. Mr. Morris was a member of the last graduating class of Alabama Polytechnic Institute. He was the owner of Morris Pharmacy for 14 years, had worked at Eckerd's Pharmacy and retired after 10 years with Wal-Mart Pharmacy having served the Columbus community for 44 years.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George H. Morris.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Juliette "Jetty" Aldridge Morris of Ellerslie, GA; daughter, Mary Katherine "Kathy" Morris of Columbus, GA; two sons, Steve Morris and his wife Sandy of Americus, GA and Scott Morris and his wife Laura Lee of Charlotte, N.C.; 5 grandchildren, LeeAnn Morris, Ashleigh Morris, Brennan Morris all of Americus, GA and Lauren Morris and Andrew Morris of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Andrew T. Morris of Knoxville, TN; George's Wife, Libby Morris of Knoxville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered by all as a kind and gentle man who loved farming and gardening.
