William Martin Hay, 88 of Columbus, Georgia died Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the Oaks at Maple Ridge.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, December 01, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Mike McBride officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home.

Mr. Hay was born June 26, 1934 in Talbot County, Georgia son of the late Walter Lloyd Hay and Lillie Naomi Weed Hay. Bill was a graduate of Manchester High School, Valdosta State College and a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church and retired after 32 years as a compliance officer with the U.S. Department of Labor. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was active in the Coweta Falls Chapter, GA Society, Sons of the American Revolution where he served seven terms as Chapter President and the Order of Founders and Patriots of America and the Clan Hay Society. He was awarded the Patriot Medal by the GA Society its highest award and was a member of the Color Guard and attained Honor Guard Status.

Other than his parents, Mr. Hay was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Marie Hay and brother Walter L. Hay, Jr.

Survivors include his wife Mary Jo Parks Hay of Columbus, Georgia, his children, Taylor Hay, Olivia Diane Hay, William M. Hay, Jr, and step-son David Rearden, sister, Dorothy June Couch, 6 grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
