William Kenneth "Hoot" Gibson, Sr., 79, of Phenix City died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at his home.
Graveside services with Navy Honors will be held 2 P.M., Friday, March 25, 2011 at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 till 8 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL.
Mr. Gibson was born August 27, 1931 in Phenix City, AL son of the late Woodrow Glenn Gibson and Jewel Lee Phillips Gibson. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He had served for nine years as a Phenix City Police Officer during the late 50's. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved to go dancing with his wife, he also loved to go fishing and spend time with his family.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Mildred L. Gibson.
Survivors include his sons, David G. Gibson, Sr. (Marian) and W. Kenneth Gibson, Jr (Carlette) all of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Karen Barber (Jimmy) of Columbus, GA; brother, Michael Glenn Gibson of Phenix City, AL; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
