William Robert Cottle, II (Bob) died at Jack Hughston Hospital in Phenix City, Alabama on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. A memorial service will be announced at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Mr. Cottle was born in Columbus, Georgia on August 25, 1938, the son of Guy Eastwood and Grace Hollar Cottle. He graduated from the University of Georgia and received a Masters degree in Business Administration from Armstrong State University. Mr. Cottle served in the US Army for two years, most of that time at The Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, PA. He retired from US Civil Service, spending most of that time at Fort Bliss, TX and in Kaiserslautern, Germany. After retiring from government service, he worked for Total System Services for a number of years.

Mr. Cottle enjoyed all types of activities, from running marathons, parachuting, hang gliding, bike riding, to traveling and golf. He was an excellent golfer, winning several tournaments and playing the old courses in Scotland. He made holes in one in the Berlin, Germany Open (winning the tournament) and at Callaway Gardens.

Mr. Cottle is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Allen Cottle of Columbus. He also leaves behind two brothers, Dr. Ron Cottle (Joanne) and Gene Cottle (Shirley), two sisters, Joann Ward (Ray) and Carol Bryan (Joseph), Sister-in-law, Dolores Drew (John , Jr.), nephews Andy Cottle (Cindy), Ron Cottle, Jr., Jay Bryan (Suzie), Mike Ward, Roger Ward (Betty), John Drew, III (Ashley), Christopher Drew, Wesley Drew, and nieces Cindy Wheeler (Barry) and Joanna Cook (Terry), several grand nephews and nieces, two great grand nephews and two great grand nieces.
