William Churchill Corcoran, Sr., 86, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Mr. Corcoran was born June 18, 1929 in Cottonton, AL son of the late Prather E. Corcoran, Sr. and Katie White Corcoran. He retired from Roadway Express with 39 years of service and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Corcoran was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in the yard.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda J. Gallops, son-in-law, Clarence W. Gallops, brother, Prather E. Corcoran, Jr., and niece, Victoria Cocoran.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Jean Foster Corcoran of Columbus, GA, son, William C. "Billy" Corcoran, Jr. (Vivian) of Ladonia, AL, daughter, Catherine "Cathi" E. Dinkins (Russell) of Fortson, GA, sister-in-law, Anne Curry of Columbus, brother-in-law, John P. Foster (Glenda) of Garner, NC, nieces, Connie Johnston of Ozark, AL, Tina Caples (Carrol) of Pinson, AL, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous other family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Wynnbrook Baptist Church 500 River Knoll Way Columbus, GA 31904 or to the Valley Rescue Mission 2903 2nd Ave. Columbus, GA 31904.
