William "Bill" Batey, 66, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Medical Center.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Batey was born July 11, 1943, son of the late William Rowell Batey and the late Blanche Elizabeth Batey in Wilkinsburg, PA. He was a retired U.S. Army, Major and he was retired from the Army Reserves. He served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was previously employed with CVS Pharmacy formerly Big B Drugs and Lee Drugs as a retail manager. He was most recently employed at Barber's Driving Academy as a driving instructor.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Batey of Columbus, GA, a daughter, Kelley Batey of Columbus, GA, a grandson, Sean Rollins of Columbus, GA, and his sister, Donna Batey Hamlin of Newnan, GA.
