William B. Amon, Sr., 85, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 4:30 PM Friday, January 6, 2012 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Father Terry Keller and Father Richard Waller officiating. A private interment will be held in Riverdale Cemetery according to the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Amon was born March 13, 1926 in Columbus, GA son of the late Henry T. and Daisy Brannon Amon. He was an Auburn graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II. He worked for 18 years at Prudential Insurance Company and later opened Amon Insurance Company. He also was a member of St. George Anglican Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Harry Amon.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Wash Amon of Columbus, GA, two sons, William B. Amon (Vicki) of Salinas, CA and Thomas M. Amon (Betsy) of Columbus, GA, brother, Robert Amon of Columbus, GA, three grandchildren, Leslie Amon Gill (Bob) of Salinas, CA, Lindsay Amon of Salinas, CA and Bryant Amon of Columbus, GA, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
