Willellen Brooks Brown, age 88, a resident of Spring Harbor Retirement Community in Columbus, GA, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Bethany House in Auburn, AL.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm EST on Saturday, March 13, 2010 with the Reverend Hal Brady and the Reverend Helen Berenthien officiating. The family will greet friends at 3:30 pm EST in the Ballroom at Spring Harbor Retirement Community.

Mrs. Brown was born March 21, 1921 in Chatsworth, GA to Thomas William Brooks and Alline Gregory Brooks. She attended West Georgia College. In 1939 she married Stephen Roy Brown of Eton, GA. They were members of St. Luke United Methodist Church, and she was a member of UMW Circle 3.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Lynda Brown Clifford and her husband Locke Turner Clifford of Greensboro, NC; by her daughter Hilda Brown Carlisle and her husband Washington Homer Carlisle, III, of Auburn, AL; by her son Stephen Roy Brown and his wife Freiya Wester Brown of Statesboro, GA, and by sisters-in-law Mildred Gregory Brown of Chatsworth, GA and Ruth Brown Kendrick of Ridgeland, MS and by many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her grandchildren Ellyn Clifford Quesnel and her husband Daniel Paul Quesnel of Winston-Salem, NC; Andrew Carter Clifford and his wife Stephanie Waldner Clifford of Greensboro, NC; Washington Homer Carlisle, IV, of Arlington, VA; Seth Alexander Brown and his wife Tricia Kane Brown of Cumming, GA; Jenna Brown Perkins of Statesboro, GA; and Meredith Brown of Statesboro, GA. She is survived by her great-grandchildren Emily Quesnel, Nate Quesnel, Hayden Brown, Brooks Brown, Lyla-Grace Brown, Madisyne Jackson, Gavin Perkins, Tucker Perkins, and Smith Brown.
