Wiley Trenton Crockett, passed away peacefully at home from natural causes on December 22, 2024 in Columbus, Georgia at the age of 88.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Evangel Church, 5350 Veterans Pkwy, Columbus, GA 31904, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Wiley was born June 19, 1936, in Athens, GA, the only child of the late Ben Crockett and Jessie Swinford. Wiley graduated from Clarke County High School in 1955 and went directly into the Navy where he was able travel and explore the nation while serving. After the Navy, he pursued academic interests, earning a Bachelor’s degrees from Simpson Bible college (San Francisco) and Gordon Conwell college (Massachusetts). Later moving to Atlanta, GA and remarrying, he also earned a Master’s Degree from Georgia State University. He retired from the Food Safety and Inspection Services division of the Federal Government in 2003 and moved to Columbus, GA.

Wiley was a thorough planner and list maker, he loved to read, he had an avid interest in weather and was deeply faithful; often spending hours watching the weather channel and Christian programming. He was a man who cared deeply for his family and his sphere of influence. He was thoughtful and generous, giving to a number of charitable organizations. Wiley was a member of Evangel Church, where he faithfully attended until health conditions rendered him home bound in 2019. Wiley's greatest pride, however, was his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife and a loving father to his children. Wiley's role as a family man was one he cherished above all others, and his guidance, wisdom, and humor will be profoundly missed by those who knew him best.

Wiley is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 46 years, Connie Crockett; two sons, Trenton Andrew Crockett, Christopher Paul Crockett; daughter, Ann Elizabeth Roberts, her husband Shaun and son Austin.
