Wayne Melvin Campbell, 76, a treasured soul known to many simply as Wayne, passed away on November 19, 2024. Wayne drew his last breath peacefully at his home in Columbus, Ga.

Wayne was born on June 30, 1948, in the small, close-knit community of Blakely, Ga, he grew into a man of great character and generosity, touching the lives of all who knew him. He graduated from Baker High School, after which he embarked on a journey of entrepreneurship that led to the creation and successful management of Campbell Paint Co. His professional life was characterized by a strong work ethic and passionate commitment to serving his customers, which earned him respect and admiration within the community.

Throughout his life, Wayne pursued numerous interests with passion and joy. In his younger days, he could often be found with a fishing rod in hand, reveling in the quietude of nature, and instilling a love for the outdoors in his offspring, especially his son. As the years passed, his role as a grandfather became his primary focus, and he relished in the simple pleasures of life. Watching westerns and relaxing in his favorite chair with a blanket or two became synonymous with Wayne's contentment in his later years.

At the heart of Wayne’s world was his loving family. He shared 54 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Paula Campbell. Their partnership was a testament to love and dedication, giving life to a beautiful family. Together, they raised five children: Jennifer Culpepper (Scott), Amanda Cooper (Brett), Zack Campbell (Erin), Jill Campbell, and Alyson Campbell. They were his pride and joy, and he took immense pleasure in watching them grow and succeed. Wayne was also a doting grandfather, playing an integral role in the upbringing of each of his 10 grandchildren, Jacob, Arabella, Madalyn, Adam, Lucas, Avalyn, Wyatt, Brayson, Charleigh and Nickolas. His love and wisdom helped shape their lives, leaving a legacy of cherished memories.

Those who knew Wayne best would describe him as a loving husband, a generous father, and a passionate grandfather. We will honor and celebrate Wayne's life, remembering the man who taught us the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the joy of living each day with a generous heart. His story does not end here; it is carried forward by the laughter of his grandchildren, the success of his children, and the loving memories shared by all whose lives he has touched. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so freely gave.
