Walter “Marvin” Wright, Sr., 76, of Phenix City, AL, died Monday, June 3, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Curt Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home 3874, Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment services will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 2:30 pm at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with military honors.
Marvin was born July 19, 1947, in Columbus, GA, to the late Walter James Wright and Fammie Williams Wright. He served in the US Marine Corps and had two tours in the Vietnam War. After serving in the military, he retired from Civil Service as the Engineering Supervisor at the Department of Public Works at Ft. Moore (formerly Ft. Benning)
Survivors include his wife, Georgina Wright of Phenix City, AL, children, Walter Marvin (Sandy) Wright, Jr. of Pascagoula, MS, Teri Lynn (Gary) Smith of Graceville, FL, Warren Mitchell Wright, of Valley, AL, Allen Edward (Annette) Hunt of Smith Station, AL, Heather Angel (Robert) Coppedge, of Ellerslie, GA, Amber Aplin Strickland, of Fortson, GA, and Charles Daniel (Jennifer) Bowens of Fortson, GA. sister, Dorothy Rogers of Smith Station, AL, Ellen Stoer of Columbus, GA and Maryann Starling of Panama City, FL, 18 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted, those so desiring may make contributions to, the military charity of their choosing, and the family is selecting the VA Group to pledge the donations to.
