Walter V. Tidwell, Jr., 80, Columbus, GA, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00, Monday, March 31, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Dr. Don Wilhite officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Tidwell was born August 13, 1933 in Mexia, TX, son of the late Walter V. Tidwell, Sr. and Mary Moody Tidwell. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Columbia Masonic Lodge #7 and Scottish Rite. He worked for Valley Produce for a number of years but retired from Auten Poultry.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Andrew Tidwell; and brother, Weldon M. Tidwell.
Survivors include his wife, Elissa Eidam Tidwell of Columbus, GA; daughter, Patricia "Pat" T. Mitchell (Ron) of Columbus, GA; sons, Walter Michael "Mike" Tidwell (Kim) of Phenix City, AL, James "Mark" Tidwell (Patricia "Patti") of Columbus, GA; daughter-in-law, Teresa Tidwell; 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Masonic Children Home, 811 Mulberry Street Macon, GA 31201
