Walter Allen Taft, 68, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Kindred Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Rodney Porter officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Taft was born December 11, 1949 in Columbus, GA son of the late Perry Richard and Mary Elizabeth Howard Taft. He was a 1969 graduate of Jordan High School where he was a member of the baseball team. Mr. Taft worked for Royal Crown Cola and retired after 33 years with Litho-Krome. He was a member of Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church and loved and supported all his grandchildren.
Other than his parents, Mr. Taft was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Taft.
Survivors include his wife, Millie Taft, daughter, Amanda Martin (Wesley), sons, Scott Taft (Maria) and Allen Taft all of Columbus, GA, step-daughters, Ginger Curry and Chrissie Plock both of Columbus, GA, brothers, Cecil Taft of Buena Vista, GA, Bobby Taft of Columbus, GA, and Larry Taft of Opelika, AL, five grandchildren, Gavin, Kaleb, Drake, Brody, Fisher and McKenzie, 5 step-grandchildren, P.J., Cayte, Danny lee, Waverlyn and Olivia, and one step- great grandchild, Sophia.
Flowers will be accepted, those so desiring may make contributions to Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church 4170 Striplin Terrace, Columbus, Ga. 31909 in memory of Walter Allen Taft.
