Walter F. Chambers, son of James L. Chambers and Pamela C. Chambers, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021, due to complications of COVID-19.  He was born in Columbus, Georgia on 4 June, 1974, and played football as well as baseball at Harris County High School where he graduated in 1992.  He attended the University of Georgia and Columbus State University before receiving his Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Mercer University in 2008.

In addition to faithfully serving the Columbus community as a pharmacist, he touched many lives with his warmth and quick sense of humor.  An active member in the Georgia Ornithological Society, Walt was a gifted naturalist who possessed a rare knowledge of birds coupled with the vision of an accomplished wildlife photographer.  He traveled the world capturing the majesty and beauty of nature with his camera and delighted in sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others.   Walt celebrated life through music, food, and drink with family and friends, supporting UGA football, fishing, and encouraging others with his smile and good-natured teasing.

He is survived by his mother, Pamela Crank of Waverly Hall, Georgia, brother Alan Chambers, sister-in-law Sylvia Chambers, nephew Neil Chambers, and niece Brette Chambers, all of Falls Church, Virginia, as well as uncle Joe Chambers, aunt Linda Chambers, and cousins Brittney, Blake, and Bradley Chambers, all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The family wishes to thank the outstanding professionals at St. Francis-Emory Medical Center COVID ICU for their dedicated, compassionate care.  A fund will be established in Walt’s honor for Oxbow Meadows, a local environmental learning center where he spent innumerable hours observing and photographing wildlife.  A memorial service will be planned in the near future.
