Virginia Rebecca Webb, 94, of Columbus, GA died Friday, December 3, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Mark Sasser and Rev. Don James officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00-3:00 PM at the funeral home.
Ms. Webb was born January 10, 1922 in Spence, GA daughter of the late Mark and Arrilla Bass Webb. She graduated in the class of 1944 at Berry College with an Accounting degree. In 1951, she passed the Georgia State Bar and began her law practice in Columbus, GA. After an illustrious career as an attorney, she retired in 2010. Ms. Webb was also a member of East Highland United Methodist Church.
Virginia was also known for her philanthropy, especially to orphans. She supported many charities, and gave generously to her beloved Alma Mater, Berry College. Through The Virginia Webb Scholarships, many students received much needed financial support. She chose a simple lifestyle in order to expand the scope of her giving to those in need. Virginia is deeply missed by her family and friends.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lester Webb, Mae Benton, Ozell Hudson, Isabel Beller, M.E. Jones and brothers, Henry Wiley Webb, Sr., Albert Webb, James Webb, Will Webb and Richard Webb.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, loving caregivers, students and faculty at her beloved Berry College, Church Family of East Highland United Methodist Church, and many special friends.
