Virginia Elizabeth Nixdorf passed away at her residence on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
Virginia was the daughter of the late James R. Nixdorf and Elizabeth (Betty) W. Nixdorf, she was born in Ft. Hood, Texas on July 20,1953. As a member of an Army family, she lived in places as far flung as Taiwan and West Germany. Upon Colonel Nixdorf's retirement from the Army, the family relocated from Augusta, Georgia to Columbus. Virginia attended Columbus High School and, after graduation in 1971, she enrolled at Emory University where she completed a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Accounting. Virginia worked in financial positions throughout her adult life, retiring at New Horizons Behavioral Health in 2018. She was a member of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Columbus, where she attended the early Sunday morning service. She was an avid reader and was a member of the Saint Thomas Book Group and the Saints and Sinners Worship and Fellowship Group at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Nixdorf.
The funeral service for Virginia Nixdorf will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at one o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of Reconciliation at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, 2100 Hilton Ave, Columbus, Georgia. The Reverend Grace Burton-Edwards will officiate, burial to follow in the columbarium at Saint Thomas.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Saint Thomas Episcopal Church or the Chattahoochee Episcopal Ministry or to Wynnton Neighborhood Network.
