Virginia Ellen Harris

Virginia Ellen Harris, 74, of McDonough, GA died Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at her Residence.

A graveside service will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Ken Dawson officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Virginia was born October 15, 1947 in Newnan, GA to the late Hugh W. Tarleton and Faye Hardegree Tarleton.  She was a Corporate Accountant for years at The Game and prior to that she had a career in Higher Education at Troy University.  While dad was in the military, mom's career moving from Air Force Base to Base was in Banking.   She obtained her BBA through The University of Maryland then Columbus State University.  She received her MBA at Troy University. Upon retirement she became highly involved in the Roswell, GA Senior Center which included swimming, cooking, and being a part of the Theatrical Program.  She loved staying challenged so much she remained in the workforce as an Independent Contractor up to about 3 months, ago. When she was young she enjoyed Cake Decorating, Crocheting, jogging, and pinochle with other military couples. She loved spending time with her family and friends the most. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, William Vickey Harris.

She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Lee Harris-Ogle (Kenneth R.) of McDonough, GA, sisters, Martha Tarleton Hendrix (Melvin) of Newnan, GA, Betty Tarleton Arrington (Frank) of Franklin, GA, Billie Tarleton Davis, grand dogs, Belle and Bree, numerous nieces nephews and other family members.
