Vickie Rometa Dykes, 56, of Phenix City, AL died Monday, July 27, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 30, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Frances Corbin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service according to the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Dykes was born July 8, 1959 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Mitchell LaDon Baxley and Alvie June Dugard Shelton. She was a loving mother, who loved truck driving, traveling, and singing.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kenneth "Pete" Dykes, Sr., son, Josh Dykes and brother, Mark Baxley.
Survivors include her daughters, Christa Coker (Tim) of Pine Mountain, GA, Amy Smith of Columbus, GA, Jennifer Dykes (John) and Jessica Dykes all of Phenix City, AL, sons, Doug Smith (Samantha) of Cusseta, GA, James Dykes (John) and Pete Dykes, Jr. (Heather) of Phenix City, AL, sisters, Sheila Evers (Chris) of Ellerslie, GA, Angie Bechdolt (Dan) of Marietta, GA, Tonya Liles of Phenix City, AL and Andrea Short (Tony) of Marietta, GA, brothers, Ricky Baxley (Sue) of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Robert Shelton (Susan) of Columbus, GA and Tim Shelton (Julie) of Phenix City, AL, and 17 grandchildren.
