Vertie Mae Peacock, 90, of Ellerslie, GA died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. David Howle officiating. Interment will be held at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Butler, GA. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Peacock was born December 19, 1927 in Ocilla, GA daughter of the late Jasper and Nealie Busbin Bryan. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Ellerslie, GA.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. "Jake" Peacock and her siblings, Arzie Bryan, Ezrie Bryan, Gladys Veal, J.C Bryan, Henry Bryan, Alice Taylor and her twin, Gertie Lee.
Survivors include her step-daughter, Gail Wainwright of Warner Robins, GA, grandchildren, Vince Allen (Stacey) and Michelle King, a number of great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews including Brenda and Earl Hobbs and Wayne and Sheryl McCraine.
