Vera Nadine Bowery Duffey, 73, of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday May 3, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Tuesday May 5, 2015, 1:30 PM at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at Hemphill Memorial Presbyterian Church in Stockbridge, GA at 4:30 PM on Tuesday.
Dee was born February 27, 1942 in Kingsport, TN to the late David Haskell Bowery and Virginia Wilson Burke. She was a member of Britt David Baptist Church. She was known to many for her years of work in the Muscogee County Tax Commissioners Office. She loved her family and was devoted to her four grandchildren. Her favorite activities were attending her grandchildren's sporting events and attending extended family gatherings where her from scratch banana pudding was everyone's favorite
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Sherri Burke Goolsby. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years Richard Hiram Duffey of Phenix City, AL ; daughters Darla Duffey Lowe (Duncan) and Rhonda Duffey Edwards (David) both of Columbus, GA, sister Yolanda Bowery Townsend (Bruce) of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren Andrew Duncan Lowe, Jr., Richard Lane Edwards, Abigail Claire Lowe, Samuel Duffey Lowe, all of Columbus, GA and eight nieces and nephews.
A loving thank you to all her caregivers and especially to the wonderful staff at the Columbus Hospice House.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Britt David Baptist Church Building Fund (5801 West Britt David Road Columbus, GA 31909).
