Velma Ruth Pate Williams,88, of Columbus, GA, died Friday, December 1, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Gary Hartman officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams was born August 3, 1929 in Bonifay, FL, daughter of the late William Wiley Pate and Minnie Dexter Anderson Pate. She was a Registered Nurse at Columbus Regional Hospital and was a member of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams loved to sew and enjoyed sculpting art.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. "Gene" Williams, Sr and siblings, Hazel Taylor, Olen Pate, Melba Andrews, Max Levon Pate and Wendel Pate.
Survivors include her son, Marvin E. Williams, Jr (Susan) of Columbus, GA and daughter, Lynn Williams Lawrence (Rick) of Leesburg, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer Jackson (Brandon), Kelly Hughes (Jamey), Adam Lawrence (Misty), Kristina Howard (David) and great-grandchildren, Grayson, Landon, Colton, Mattie, Kaden, Micah.
