Velma Royster, 72, of Atlanta, GA died August 8, 2023.
Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 16, 2023 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Velma Royster was born on June 12, 1951 to Isaac & Christie Royster in Manhattan, New York. She spent a good portion of her life in Jamaica Queens, New York until her family moved south, to Georgia in the early 1970's.
She lived and worked many years in Atlanta, GA as an Executive Assistant at Spelman College as well as Clark Atlanta University. She continued in later years working as an Administrative Assistant for Hamilton House Nursing & Rehab in Columbus, GA.
Velma enjoyed music, shopping and had a love for plants and would spend much time caring for them, if you visited her home you were sure to see quite a few!
She experienced personal clarity May 4, 2020.
She is preceded in death by her siblings Isaac Royster, Ervin (Sondra) Royster, Beverly Royster and Lenora (Greg) Whittlesey.
She is survived by her mother, Christie Royster, children, Christina Royster, Brandon Williams, sister, Melissa Royster, bonus sister, Ginger Cantrell, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
