Ursula Anna Schaad

Ursula Anna Schaad, 87, of Columbus, GA, peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, August 29, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Pastor Rod Stephenson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Schaad, daughter of the late Rosa Heinz Wielk and the late Michael Wielk, was born July 3, 1927 in Fulda, Germany. She was a Lutheran by faith. Mrs. Schaad loved children and was a retired nanny and housekeeper. She loved watching the Braves and doing crossword puzzles in German. Her greatest enjoyment came from playing Bingo and she wouldn't miss a game if she could help it. No matter what cards she had, winning was a pretty sure thing.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her granddaughter, Anna Kate; and her brothers, Paul and August.
Mrs. Schaad is survived by her daughter, Gabriele, son-in-law, Keith, and her grandson, Erik, who was the light of her life and joy of her heart. Other survivors include her sister, Kaethe; two bonus granddaughters, Christina Owen Daniels and Laura Matthews (Jared); and two bonus great grandchildren, Joseph Daniels and John Matthews. She also leaves behind many nieces , nephews, and friends.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at St. Francis 3 North and Reba and Wanda at Columbus Hospice for their great care. Thanks also to the wonderful caregivers at Summer's Landing who loved Mrs. Schaad and looked after her so well in her years there.
