Tommy Darrell Pope, 40, of Kennesaw, GA died Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Kennesaw, GA.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Reverend Father John Michael Duffey officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Pope was born October 13, 1972 in Columbus, GA son of Dan Pope of Fortson, GA and the late Patricia Fiquett Pope. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was currently serving as a Staff Sergeant with the Alabama National Guard. He was a former police officer for the Columbus Police Department and was currently a police officer for Emory University Police Department. He was also a member of the VFW, Fraternal Order of Police, and the National Rifle Association.
Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Morris Fiquett, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah McFarthing Pope of Kennesaw; step son, Jarrett Washington; father and step-mother, Dan and Charlotte Pope of Fortson; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Jean Johnson of Fresno, CA; sister, Dannell Fogal and her husband James of Auburn, AL; brother, Patrick Pope and his wife Lois of Cataula; step brother, Ricky Stone and his wife Alissa of Midland; step brother, Jason Stone and his wife Tina of Cataula; sister in law, Gianna McFarthing-Polk of Kennesaw; sister in law, Jaquay Johnson of Kennesaw; brother in law, Cha Guyton of Fresno, CA; grandmother, Nell H. Fiquett of Seale, AL and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
