Tim David Long, 88, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, July 1, 2023.

Born on April 12, 1935, in Molena, Georgia, Tim was known for his friendly nature, creativity, and handy skills. Tim's life was marked by a strong work ethic and a commitment to service. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958, a period of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and dedication. Following his military service, Tim pursued a career as a welder, a trade that allowed him to utilize his innate creativity and problem-solving skills. He retired from Ft. Benning, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. Tim was a man who found joy in fixing things. If something was broken, it wouldn't stay that way for long. He was always tinkering with something, whether it was a mechanical device or his mini garden. His hands were rarely still, and his mind was always active, seeking out the next problem to solve or project to tackle. His creativity and handiness were not just hobbies, but a testament to his resourceful and resilient spirit.
In his passing, Tim leaves behind a legacy of service, creativity, and love for his family. His life was a testament to the power of hard work, the joy of creativity, and the importance of family. He will be remembered not just for the things he fixed, but for the lives he touched and the love he shared. Tim David Long's life was a journey marked by service, creativity, and love. Tim was predeceased by his wife, Mary B. Long, daughter, Teresa Bone, and son, David Long.
He is survived by his son, Tracy, and his wife, Teresa. Tim was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his warmth, wisdom, and the love he had for his family. He is also survived by his siblings, Willis and Janie, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his friendly demeanor and creative spirit.
