Thomas Richard Werner 81 of Phenix City, Al. died Wednesday, November 09, 2016 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2016 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Hank Reeves officiating. A private interment will be held Monday at Parkhill Cemetery. Family and Friends are welcome after the service at the home of the Echols family. Honorary Pallbearers will be, John Thompson, Justin Brown, Joshua Brown, Benjamin Echols, Jimmy Bolles, and Wendell Boswell.
Mr. Werner was born in Trenton, NJ. February 4, 1935 to the late Joseph and Susan Werner. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and retired from Martin Army Community Hospital as an Engineer Technician. He is a Christian by faith and attends Glenn Anthony Baptist Church and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
Other than his parents, Mr. Werner is preceded in death by sisters Irene Linik, Claire Sorce, brother Joseph Werner and son, Jonathan Dixon Wilson
Survived by his wife Maryann Brown Werner. Children, Joann Werner, Laura Werner, Cathy Werner, and Robin Wilson Thompson. Other family, Terry and Tammy Echols, Justin Kenneth Brown, Joshua Stewart Brown, Anna Wilson Thompson, Mary Ellen Thompson, John Kenneth Brown, and a host of other family members.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Hunter Champion, Dr. Michael Sims and staff for their exceptional care of Mr. Werner.
