Ret. SSG Thomas R. Clevenger, Sr., 77 of Phenix City died Wednesday, September 21, 2010 at the Medical Center.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held 2:30 P.M., Friday, September 24, 2010 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9 till 12 Noon at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th St., Phenix City, AL.

Ret. SSG Clevenger was born August 31, 1933 in Van Buren, IN son of the late Nancy Mae Sweatman Clevenger and Charles C. Clevenger. He was a retired Staff Sergeant with U. S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a baptist by faith. He loved to travel and dearly loved his family and especially his grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife Glenith M. Clevenger and brothers Jerry and Ted Clevenger.

Survivors include his sons, Brian K. Clevenger of Phenix City and T. R. Clevenger and wife Marvetta of Daphne, AL; grandson, Dakota Clevenger of Daphne, AL; siblings, Chuck Clevenger of Holland, MI, Janet Gutzwiller of Marion, IN, Betty Wease and husband Bob of Marion, IN, Buzz Clevenger and wife Mary of San Diego, CA and Jane Simmons and husband Joe of Phenix City, AL; sister-in-law, Linda Clevenger of Marion, IN and numerous nieces and nephews.
