Thomas Joseph Elkins, 73 of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 28, 2012 at Parkhill Cemetery with Minister Judy Hay officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA.
Mr. Elkins was born June 28, 1939 in Donalsonville, GA son of the late Thomas J. Elkins and Lucille Faircloth Elkins. He was a U. S. Army veteran and also served in the Army Reserves. During his life he worked for A & P Grocery and Piggly Wiggly (JTM Corp). He worked as a machine operator for Kysor Warren.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Christine McKenzie, Betty Jean Lee and Alice Kirksey.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Sandra Elkins of Columbus, GA; daughter, Pam Roy (Charles) of Midland, GA; grandchildren, Mallory Roy and Braxton Roy of Midland, GA; brother, Ken Elkins (Joanne Infante) of Chapel Hill, NC; sister, Dorothy Torbic of Columbus, GA; sister-in-law, Frances Worrell (Marvin) of Seale, AL and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
